In September 2015 AAB was commissioned by Seasun for the development of a 12.5 hectare greenhouse for cultivation of tomatoes with assimilation lighting. It concerns an expansion of the greenhouse horticulture business on a plot next to the existing location of Seasun in Kapelle. Meanwhile the first crop was planted in November 2016.
In addition to the greenhouse, the project also includes the development of a head house of approximately 5,500 m2 containing a boiler room, water room, processing area, storage area, offices, canteen and toilets. The design and architecture were carried out by AAB.
The greenhouse with a column height of 7 metres is equipped with diffuse Low Iron glass with double AR (Anti Reflexive) coating for maximum light transmission. In addition the greenhouse features a grow light installation of 175 µmol/m2/s.
The heating installation is connected to the existing gas grid connection at the main location. For the required electricity the company is connected to the existing 10 KV system of Seasun, extended with additional CHP power.
In order to be able to respond to market demand of various products, the greenhouse is divided into 3 sections, each featuring its own irrigation system.
