Mid-February 2017 the construction started of an expansion of 50,000 m2 Daylight Greenhouse of the phaleanopsis nursery of Ter Laak Orchids in Wateringen.
In 2013 4,000 m2 of this type of greenhouse was built to facilitate the Young Plants compartment. The last years good experience has been gained with the Daylight Greenhouse with realizing energy savings and better quality of plants. The Daylight Greenhouse has been developed by Technokas and its sister company Bode Project en Ingenieursbureau.
With the help of large Fresnel lenses and a solar collector system the greenhouse converts direct solar radiation into heat. The technology also serves as a screening installation as a protection against the direct solar light. The diffuse part of the solar light stays available for the crop that grows faster in this favorable climate. The systems in the greenhouse provide heat generation. It saves costs and the production of the crop has been increased significantly.
By combining this innovative Daylight Greenhouse with, amongst others, an installation for ‘Cultivation New Style’, Ter Laak Orchids chooses prominently for a sustainable way of growing their products.
AAB takes care of the complete project management involving this greenhouse to be built with all applicable installations. Also, AAB takes care of the energetic installation to be combined with the existing greenhouses. The building of this Daylight Greenhouse will be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
